Project needs support

December 7, 2012
Shepherdstown Chronicle

16 tonsthat's how much coal we could displace with energy efficiency in Shepherdstown - and that's the goal for Sustainable Shepherdstown's winter project. It's simple: volunteers will go door-to-door in the Shepherdstown area to offer to install energy-saving tools for free, such as water heater insulators and high-efficiency light bulbs. There's no cost for homeowners but there could be significant savings on electricity bills. For instance, simply adding an insulating blanket around a hot water tank could save $40 a yearevery year.

We need your help to make this project a success.

Please consider a donation for insulation You can make this donation as a holiday gift to honor someone special, and we'll send them a thank-you card on your behalf. You'll also be entered into a raffle to win a complete energy efficiency audit by Home Efficiency Solutions LLC, a value of several hundred dollars. But the main thing is this: you'll be giving energy efficiency to your community.

Every $15 donated will provide a water heater insulator for a household that needs one. We'll need to install at least 50 insulators to reach 16 tons of coaland we can do this with your help. Please for more information or to volunteer an afternoon to help with the installations. Thanks for supporting energy efficiency in Shepherdstown!

Than Hitt
