CORRECTED: Public input sought for Envision Jefferson 2035

February 5, 2013
Shepherdstown Chronicle

Editor's note: Information in the article printed in this week's Chronicle incorrectly listed the public meeting in Shepherdstown at the Elementary School. The meeting is at Shepherdstown Middle School. We apologize for the error.

The Jefferson County Commission, Jefferson County Planning Commission and the Envision Jefferson 2035 Steering Committee invite individuals to make their voices heard by participating in the first series of public input workshops for the creation of the 2014 Comprehensive Plan, "Envision Jefferson 2035." A comprehensive plan allows communities to assess existing conditions, establish goals and objectives related to the direction that the county will pursue in the coming years and identify a series of recommendations to implement the vision of the 2035 plan.

The workshops will be held at the following locations on these dates: Saturday, Feb. 2 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Blue Ridge Elementary School; Monday, Feb. 4, 7 to 9 p.m. at South Jefferson Elementary School and Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shepherdstown Middle School.

At the workshops, attendees will be introduced to the Envision Jefferson 2035 project and the current state of the county, including a variety of data and maps. Attendees will then participate in a series of exercises to identify issues and opportunities in Jefferson County, as well as to help begin the process of creating a vision for the envision Jefferson 2035 plan. The same materials will be discussed at each of the three workshops so a choice of location and time for convenience is given. Additional public input workshops will be held in July, January 12-14 and April 2014 that follow up on the public input received at each previous workshop and which lead to a final draft comprehensive plan by the summer of 2014.
