The AHA! Board of Directors has selected nine individuals and organizations to receive a combined total of $9,300 in funding for arts and humanities projects as part of the Community Arts Impact Award (CAIA) program. This cycle's award winners include:
South Jefferson Public Library Support to expand existing music and arts program offering at library facility in Summit Point and add special educational opportunities in art and music for children.
Potomac Audubon Valley Society Support to conduct one-week Digital Nature Photography Camp for area high school students at Shepherd University in Summer 2013, followed by a public exhibition of resulting work.
Cynthia Gayton Support for the Second Annual Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Community Art Walk on April 27-28, 2013, which is a self-guided tour from the Visitor's Center to Harpers Ferry Lower Town with artist, merchant, and organization stops along the way.
Goose Route Arts Collaborative Support for Shepherdstown Dance Weekend from May 31 to June 2, 2013, featuring local and regional dance artists holding master classes and performing in selected public sites throughout Shepherdstown.
Shepherdstown Community Club Support for arts and crafts weekends in Shepherdstown showcasing the work of local and regional artists. These monthly events will begin in April 2013 and lead into the Christmas Bazaar in December.
Contemporary American Theater Festival Support to sustain the CATF's Pay-What-You-Can Previews on July 3-4, 2013. This will allow performances of five plays to continue without a fixed minimum ticket prices.
Charles Washington Orchestra Support for a concert by an emerging community orchestra in April 2013 and continuing development of a multi-generational music organization with amateurs playing alongside professionals.
Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority Support for "Art on the Bus" project for the April 27, 2013, Earth Day celebration at Morgan's Grove Park. Two professional artists will design a mural for the Jefferson County bus that will be painted by children at the artists' direction.
Anne Cropper Support for the development and promotion of The Slant Factory art exhibition space in downtown Charles Town.
The CAIA Program provides operational support for existing and emerging arts and humanities programs and projects. The next award cycle is this summer with applications due by July 15, 2013. All inquiries about the CAIA Program can be submitted to email@example.com.
