Twila Marie Carr

Twila Marie Carr, 57, of Martinsburg, departed this life Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Hospice of the Panhandle inpatient facility in Kearneysville.

Born Jan. 21, 1957, in Princeton, she was the daughter of James Stowers and the late Mildred Foster Stowers.

She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Shepherdstown.

A graduate of Princeton High School, class of 1975, she obtained degrees from WVU, Shepherd University and Bluefield State College. Twila devoted her life to the health and environmental profession in a lengthy career for the state of West Virginia, retiring in December of 2013. One of her favorite interests was water aerobics, serving as an instructor for 21 years. Twila was a loving wife and a devoted mother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Jesse, at home; two daughters, Amy and Christa Carr, both at home; her father, James Stowers, of Princeton; one sister, Sandra Puckett and husband, John, of Princeton; nephew and niece, Greg and Jill Puckett, both of Princeton; her loyal dog, “Baby;” and numerous other extended family.

Local memorial services were held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Covenant Church, Shepherdstown, with Pastor Terry Crawford officiating.

Princeton memorial services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Kee Street United Methodist Church, Princeton, with Pastor Ray Stonestreet and Pastor Terry Crawford officiating.
