Tuesday, Oct. 28: A Halloween parade for members of our Lap Babies, Ones, and Twos groups will meet in costume outside the Shepherdstown Library at 11:15 a.m. After the parade there will be a special story time at the War Memorial Building (102 E. German St.) with Children's Librarian Lilly Bauer.
Wednesday, Oct. 29: Ages 5 through 12 are invited to hear spine-tingling stories and do Halloween crafts in Anne's After School Program from 4 to 4:45 p.m. School-age children are invited to attend every Wednesday in October at 4 p.m., for many more spooky stories and frightful crafts!
Oct. 31: The FOSL (Friends of the Shepherdstown Library) Book Club is in search of some new members. Dharma Mittra Yoga Level 2 Class: 2-3:30 p.m. Join Gena Rockwell as she shares the Dharma 2 yoga posture series. Dharma yoga, founded by legendary yoga master Sri Dharma Mittra, is a deeply spiritual and physically challenging practice. Meals on Wheels of Jefferson County is holding its annual soup, sandwich and bake sale at the Presbyterian Church Fellowship hall located at the corner of Washington and Mildred streets in Charles Town from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. or the soup is gone. There is a tree planting event scheduled at Sam Michael's Park. This event is through a Chesapeake Bay Communities grant. Each day will start at 9 a.m. We will be planting and fencing 176 small trees along Job Corps Road. We are looking for volunteers to help plant and fence trees. Dr. Jim Price will present the last event in the Historic Shepherdstown 2014 Speaker Series, "Strange as it Seems: Actual Happenings in Shepherdstown." His talk will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Byrd Center for Legislative Studies. Dr. Price will share with the audience a compendium of little known facts about events that have occurred during the town's long and colorful history.
