June 26, 2015
Bob Madison - Chronicle Sports , Shepherdstown Chronicle

After winning the high school's 11th state baseball championship, Jefferson High had two players named to the sports writer's all-state first team. Junior shortstop Paul Witt and pitcher/first baseman Andy Disque were selected from Jefferson's 37-2 record team.

Witt is only a junior and led the Cougars in batting average and was considered the state's best-fielding shortstop. The left-handed Disque gave the Cougars pitching wins in the Sectional and Regional tournaments. He authored a 2-0 shutout win over Spring Mills in the semifinal game of the Regional tournament.

Also selected to the writers' first team were pitchers Michael Grove (Wheeling Park) and Brady Wilkinson (Riverside); catcher Tate Brock (Hurricane); infielders Trey Dawson (Hurricane), Chris Johnson (Ripley) and Brian Schack (Shady Spring); outfielders Andrew Zban (Huntington), Matt Harrison (Nitro) and Tristan Lucas (University) and utility players Zack Minnick (Logan), David Delawder (Hampshire), Trevor Sampson (South Charleston) and J.T. Rogoszewski (Hurricane).

Grove has a baseball scholarship to WVU, while Rogoszewski will attend North Carolina State and Minnick will play at Campbell (North Carolina).

Jefferson's infielder Andrew King and infielder/pitcher Charlie Barnholt were selected to the second team.

Placed on the special honorable mention list from Jefferson were Bradley Davis, the winning pitcher in a 2-1 win over Nitro in the state championship game, and outfielder Wil Oliver.

Placed on the "honorable mention" list from Jefferson was outfielder Brody Price, while Washington High players Connor Nurse (pitcher), Texas Cobb (catcher), Robert Cross (infielder/pitcher) and Zac Burch (infielder/pitcher) also were placed on the honorable mention list.
