The Jefferson boys and girls swim teams both won team title in Saturday's Jefferson Invitational swim meet.
On the boys side, the Cougars were first with a score of 635, followed by Washington (495), Hampshire (276), Musselman (228), Hedgesville (152) and Martinsburg (141).
Individually, Jefferson's Nick Wiercioch and Nick Mazaleski each won two event. Wiercioch won the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.10) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.22), while Mazaleski won the 50 free (22.60) and 100 free (51.91).
Washington's Kyle Carson also won two events - the 200 individual medley (2:18.93) and 500 free (5:34.41). Teammate Lucas Costello took the 100 butterfly (58.87), while Hedgesville's Ricard Marsal-Caston won the 100 backstroke (58.61).
The Cougars won the 200 medley and 200 free relays, while the Patriots won the 400 free relay.
Members of the all-invitational team were Jefferson's Mazaleski, Wiercioch, Hanson Cooper, Jonah Plaza and Matthew Nace, Washington's Carson, Costello and Gabe Abreu-Vigil, Hampshire's Gunner Edgell and Garrett Lease and Martinsburg's Justin Bishop.
Jefferson's girls team took first with a score of 608, with Washington (393), Musselman (368), Hedgesville (323), Hampshire (286) and Martinsburg (114) following behind.
Multiple winners included the Cougars' Lily Simmons, who won the 200 free (2:07.28) and 500 free (5:47.92), and Kaelyn Gardner, who won the 200 IM (2:26.49) and 100 fly (1:04.90).
Washington's Cameron Payne took the 100 free (1:02.16) and 100 back (1:09.38), while Jefferson's Kaitlynne Orr won the 50 free (27.60) and Musselman's Emma Hull won the 100 breast in pool-record time of 1:10.10.
The Applemen won the 200 medley and 200 free relays, and Jefferson won the 400 free relay.
All-invitational selections on the girls side were Jefferson's Gardner, Simmons and Orr, Musselman's Emma Hull, McKenna Casto, Jules Tetlow and Molly Hull, Hampshire's Marissa Coyle, Hedgesville's Eulalia Marsal and Julie Veilleux and Martinsburg's Katie Roemer.
