Evelyn Virginia Marken, 89, of Harpers Ferry, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown.

Born Sept. 16, 1927 in Ranson, she was the daughter of the late Harry Duncan and Edna Frye Duncan.

She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Shepherdstown.

Evelyn's greatest treasures in life were her birds, her children and her church.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky Lemaster and husband, Roger and Karen Potts and husband, Kenny, all of Shepherds-town; six sons, Oatha Marken and wife, Darlene of Charles Town; Keith Marken and wife Shelly of Martinsburg; Joe Marken and companion, Julie Smith of Wiley Ford; Gary Marken of Highview; Mickey Marken and wife, Bev of Martinsburg and Ricky Marken of Shepherdstown; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.S. Marken in 1976; two grandsons, Brian Keith Marken and Joseph Lee Vancuren; and four brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 204 S. Church Street, Shepherdstown, with Father Mathew Rowgh as the Celebrant. Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg.
