The Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardener Association will present two free seminars on Saturday, April 8 from10 a.m. to noon at the Hospice Education Center. These are timely programs to get planters ready for spring.
The first is "Square Foot Gardening." As the name implies this allows a gardener to grow many plants and seeds in a small area. June McIlwain, certified Square Foot Gardening Instructor and Extension Master Gardener, will be the instructor.
The second is :Straw Bale Gardening." This is especially good if you have poor soil. The straw bale serves as the raised bed for planting and requires minimal labor. Judi Rice, certified Extension Master Gardener, will teach this program. To sign up for attendance, call the Berkeley County Extension Office at 304-264-1936.
