SHEPHERDSTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY

April 26: The Board of the Shepherdstown Library will hold its monthly meeting, starting at 7 p.m. in the Library (100 E. German St.). This meeting is open to the public.

April 28: Homeschool students ages 8 through 14 are invited to get creative in a littleBits STEAM building maker lab in the Shepherdstown Library's Children's Department (100 E. German St.) at 11 a.m. Registration is required: email splchild@martin.lib.wv.us or call (304) 876-2783.

The Shepherdstown Library's popular children's programs are offered in the Children's Department through May 24; no registration is required. "Lapbabies"for children birth through 18 months is Tuesdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m. "Time for Twos" meets from 11:15 to noon on Tuesdays. Glory Days Grill Dining for Dollars Fundraiser to Benefit Animal Welfare Society: The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County is proud to announce their participation in the Dining for Dollars fundraiser at Glory Days Grill in Ranson which began Jan.1 and continues through the end of the year.

Every time you dine during the entire year at Glory Days Grill in Ranson, the restaurant will contribute 10 percent of your total food purchases to the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County. Bring your neighbors, friends, and relatives, keep your copy of your guest check (not credit card receipt), and either mail it to: AWS P.O. Box 147, Charles Town, WV, 25414, place it in the collection box at Petco in Ranson, give to a board member, or drop it off at the shelter on Leetown Pike.

April 22

The third annual Shepherd University 3D Dash 5K race to benefit the Shenandoah Women's Center will take place on Saturday, April 22. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the race will start at 10 a.m. at the Smallwood and Small Pavilion next to Ram Stadium. The entire race goes through Shepherd's campus. Registration costs are $10 for students, $20 for non-students, and $10 for runners on teams of five or more. April 22-23

The Charles Washington Symphony Orchestra is proud to present its spring concert entitled "A Musical Story: Beginning, Middle and End", which will celebrate the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The weekend of 2 concerts will start on at 4:30 at Shepherdstown's Town Run Brewing Company. Ensembles @ Ellsworth will give a Prelude Performance with Alec Bennington leading The Ellsworth Brass Choir.

Harpers Ferry Middle School will be the venue for the April 23 concert. It will begin at 3:00pm with a Prelude Performance by The Charles Washington Youth Orchestra, directed by Eli Thomas and sponsored by The Station at Shepherdstown. April 24

President's Lecture Series featuring Delegate Riley Moore discussing "Security and Freedom: the Struggle for Balance" at 6:30 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education. There will be a reception following the lecture. This lecture is free and open to the public.

April 26

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society, the City of Hagerstown, and the Washington County Bird Club will sponsor a bird walk at Hagerstown's new Kiwanis Park starting at 8 a.m. and last one and a half hours. It will be led by local birding expert Sandy Sagalkin. It will be free and open to everyone but pre-registration will be required. April 28

The Third Annual Shepherd International Guitar Festival will be held through Monday, May 1. Grammy Award winner, David Russell will be our festival headliner. The lineup of artists for the 2017 Festival is outstanding, featuring a variety of traditional pieces and new compositions presented by, and guitarist. Spaghetti Dinner - All You Can Eat !! at New Street United Methodist Church, 202 West New Street (Corner of New & Church streets) in the lower level dining hall from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu includes spaghetti with choice of 3 different sauces: meat, meat with mushrooms or vegetarian; rolls; salad; home-made desserts; and beverages. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 3-12. Carryout is available.

April 29

Morgan Academy Yard Sale Fundraiser-Shepherdstown Community Club Saturday will be held from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.at the Shepherdstown Community Club. The yard sale will benefit Morgan Academy and 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Shepherdstown Community Club. If you would like to rid your house, attic, garage, closet, time capsule, and enjoy our busy town's finest K-9s, please bring your goods and join us for a fun day of community togetherness. May 6

The Potomac-Mecklenburg Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon on the grounds of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown. Shoppers can expect to purchase a large selection of perennials and native plants. Proceeds fund community projects.

The Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardeners will hold their annual Garden Fest and Plant Sale at the Bedington Ruritan Club, 3947 Williamsport Pike, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Many plants, including West Virginia heirloom tomato plants and garden-related items will be on sale. Baked goods and delicious foods will be available for purchase. The "plant doctor" will be in diagnosing plant and garden problems and offering solutions. Call 304-264-1936 for more information.

Fund Raiser for Relay for Life: We are looking for Crafters and Vendors for an outside event being held at the Corner Creamery and Cafe, 2809 Charlestown Road. The Cost for a 10x10 space is $20.
