Susan T. Heflebower

Susan T. Heflebower, 68, of Charles Town, died Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Berkeley Medical Center, Martinsburg.

Born Jan. 22, 1949, in Milford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late James E. Taylor and Lela Parker Taylor.

Mrs. Heflebower retired after 38 years as a teacher with the Jefferson County Board of Education at Wright Denny Elementary School, Page Jackson Elementary School, Blue Ridge Elementary School and C.W. Shipley Elementary School.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She graduated from Harrington, Delaware High School, class of 1967 and a graduate of Shepherd College, class of 1971 and then post graduate classes.

She was a member of the West Virginia Retired Teachers Association, Charles Town Junior Women's Club, Charles Town Kiwanis Club, Beeline Chapter DAR, She was a 4-H leader with Helping Hand 4-H Club, volunteer Jefferson County Community Ministries, volunteer at the Charles Town Middle School and an active member of the JCEA.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James G. "Jim" Heflebower, at home; son, Gregory J. Heflebower and wife, Amy, of Rippon; grandsons, Howard G. Heflebower III, Clayton E. Heflebower and William G. Heflebower; sister, Nancy Green and husband, Joe; brother, Robert Taylor and wife, Betty, all of Harrington, Delaware; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town with Pastor Van Marsceau officiating.

Interment is in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Friends were received Wednesday at the funeral home.
