June 29, 2018
Bob Madison - For the Chronicle , Shepherdstown Chronicle

Al Lueck (contributor), Dirk Webb (baseball), Todd Fischer (football) and Antar Parkman (men's basketball) have been named to the Shepherd Athletic Hall of Fame.

Lueck played four years of football at Shepherd as a 170-pound offensive lineman, before graduating in 1967. He was an assistant football coach at Shepherd from 1971 through 1978.

In the last four decades, he and his wife, Sara ('67), have been staunch supporters of Shepherd athletics and have raised money for the school as well as contributing their own money.

Lueck founded the Shepherd Gridiron Club and was its chair for years. The Gridiron Club is the leading organization in raising funds for the football team.

Fischer was a four-year starter on Shepherd's defensive line. He received honors from the WVIAC, where he was twice named to the league's first team. Shepherd won two conference championships in his four years as a starter.

Fischer was credited with 131 career tackles and had a total of 17 sacks. Shepherd won 29 games in his four-year career.

As a baseball first baseman, Webb was a four-year starter (2005 to 2008) and was three times selected to the All-WVIAC first team.

In addition to his WVIAC honors, Webb was twice named the Regional Player of the Year.

The Shepherd University record book shows that Webb is in the top five in many offensive categories, including career home runs, where he had 36 in his four seasons.

Two-time All-WVIAC performer Antar Parkman (1997 to 2001) scored 1,624 points in his four-year career with the men's basketball team. Parkman also ranks 13th in school history in career rebounds, with 609. In his final two seasons with the Rams, he averaged 19.7 points a game.

The Hall of Fame will induct its newest members on Oct. 26 at a banquet on campus. In addition to the event at the Storer Ballroom, the inductees will be recognized at the Oct. 27 football game against West Virginia Wesleyan.
